Gunadala Matha Shrine

Tucked into the hills of the Krishna District, the Gundala Matha Shrine, or the St Mary's Church, provides hope and solace to many. You will find an iron cross erected here along with Mother Mary's idol and a museum that houses many holy relics. A huge crowd of devotees and tourists are gathered here during the festive celebration of Our Lady of the Lourdes.
Gunadala Matha Shrine (also: Our Lady of Lourdes or Mary Matha Church), located in the city of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, is a renowned Catholic pilgrimage site attracting approximately 10 lakh devotees during its annual festival. The site features a church, a grotto, and the stations of the Cross along the hill leading to the 18-foot-high holy cross erected at the hill's summit. It is considered the second biggest worship place of Mary, mother of Jesus after Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health at Velankanni in Tamil Nadu.
