Rajwada Palace – The Royal Heart of Indore

Rajwada Palace is one of Indore’s most iconic landmarks, a magnificent blend of Maratha grandeur and Mughal elegance that transports visitors to a regal era. Situated in the city center near the bustling Khajuri Bazaar, Rajwada is a must-visit for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and cultural explorers.

Historical Significance:

Built over two centuries ago by the Holkar dynasty, Rajwada was the royal residence of the Holkars—Maratha rulers of Indore. It served as both an administrative center and a symbol of their power and prosperity. Despite suffering damage in multiple fires, it has been lovingly restored and now stands as a proud testament to Indore's rich legacy.

Architectural Highlights:

Seven stories tall, Rajwada showcases a unique fusion of Maratha, Mughal, and French architectural styles.

The lower three floors are made of stone, while the upper four floors are constructed with wood and iron, featuring elaborately carved wooden balconies, jharokhas, and windows.
